Membership and joining the club
Membership shall be open to any person upon approval of the committee and payment of the appropriate fee.
Applicants shall remain provisional members by submitting the membership application form and fee until receipt of their membership card, when they shall become full members.
The Board reserves the right to terminate or suspend membership at any time in the event of a breach of the club's rules or serious misconduct.
All members and provisional members must abide by the club's rules.
By joining the club, members must recognize that canoeing in its various forms may involve an element of risk and that the club accepts no responsibility for injury or loss of life to members in the practice of the sport, members must accept the principle that the club is not responsible.
Hiring equipment from the club and it's use
Club equipment may be hired/borrowed only for its intended use and design. In particular, equipment designed for specific purposes, such as sea boats, polo equipment, specialized paddles, etc., must not be used on waters that interfere with its use.
Equipment belonging to the club shall be made available to club members and provisional members at the prevailing hire charge and at the discretion of the committee.
The hire charges for equipment shall be set by the Annual General Meeting, and members using club equipment shall be subject to the relevant charges.
Damage to or loss of club equipment must be reported to a member of the committee as soon as possible and in writing within 5 days.
Unless there are exceptional circumstances, club owned watercraft will not be used on waters above Level IV (of the standard Level I to VI scale) at normal levels.
The use of club equipment on rivers is only permitted on club organised trips or with the approval of the committee members, with the appropriate booking procedure to be followed.
When booking equipment, a return date must be agreed with the committee member or storekeeper.
Failure to return equipment on the agreed date may be considered a breach of the club's rules.
Members who borrow club equipment and lose or damage it are responsible for at least part of the cost of repairing or replacing the gear as agreed by the committee. Damaged or lost craft outside the scope of the above restrictions will be replaced by the member who hired it.
Members wishing to hire equipment for club events must contact the excursion or event organiser, who will be solely responsible for hiring the equipment. Their instructions will be followed.
Although the club maintains the equipment it owns, it is the responsibility of the hirer to check that the equipment is in a usable condition and to note any damage found. Equipment hired to junior members will be checked by them and by the event manager.
Use of members' own equipment
Members using their own equipment must ensure that it is maintained at a level suitable for its intended use and that it does not become a liability or hazard to themselves or others.
The club is not responsible for damage to or loss of members' boats and equipment when used on trips and events organised by the club.
Pool use and pool procedure
Members must agree to abide by the rules governing the use of canoes in swimming pools as laid down by the local authority and posted in the pool areas.
It must be generally accepted that the Duty Instructor(s) is/are responsible for pool sessions and that members using the pool must abide by his/her instructions.
No member shall be present at the poolside before the official start time of the session or before an instructor is present and takes charge of the session.
Members may only enter the pool through the changing room access and the use of other pool doors is subject to the permission of the Duty Instructor.
Outdoor footwear is not permitted at poolside.
Members wishing to bring their own canoes to the pool will do so only with the permission of the instructor in charge. The canoe must be clean and left in the corridor and only brought into the pool after the session has started.
Visitors to the pool must watch from the gallery and not stand on the poolside. Access to the poolside is at the discretion of the instructor on duty.
Members may share the pool reservation (by prior arrangement), each using half a session.
Members must avoid contact with the floor or walls of the pool, either by boat or paddle, as this can cause damage. Collisions between boats must be avoided. Members performing rolls etc. must avoid pushing the paddle from the bottom of the pool.

Junior members may only participate in club trips if a qualified coach is present.
All members must comply with the decisions of the qualified coach.
